America is often referred to as the breadbasket of the world, and rightly so as we are among the largest global producers of grains, wheat and other staple food products. This being the case when our harvests suffer, the global reserves are strained. In fact, here in the US, a combination of biofuel subsidies and record rainfall has experts worried...not too mention that prices may never be this low again. A possible food crisis could be just over the horizon.
