Are we headed for a major food crisis? Are the horsemen of the apocalypse drawing nigh?




And there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages" [Revelation 6:5-6]

America is often referred to as the breadbasket of the world, and rightly so as we are among the largest global producers of grains, wheat and other staple food products. This being the case when our harvests suffer, the global reserves are strained. In fact, here in the US, a combination of biofuel subsidies and record rainfall has experts worried...not too mention that prices may never be this low again. A possible food crisis could be just over the horizon.
